Animal Husbandry

Animal Husbandry

The Animal Husbandry range of products focus on maximising home grown feed and forage, improving animal feed efficiencies and recycling nutrients. We achieve this by understanding and working with the Soil-Plant-Animal-Manure cycle and looking to nature for inspiration.

This approach has allowed us to provide a range of products that have both commercial and environmental benefits to ensure a sustainable and profitable agriculture industry.

Regenerative, or even sustainable farming practices, doesn’t have to mean sacrificing on farm performance!

Something for everyone, or at least every animal

  • The name ‘Agriton’ mean Agricultural Clay. Ton being the German word for clay.

Although no direct reference to livestock is made in the naming of the company, the clay that the company is named after was originally supplied to Dutch Dairy farmers with sandy soils.

By adding clay to sandy soils you increase the soils ability to hold onto nutrients and therefore increase its fertility. A more fertile soil will grow larger quantities of improved quality grass, which is exactly what the Dutch Dairy farmers wanted.

Since the establishment of Agriton, a number of other products have been added to the portfolio, with the large majority of these included with livestock in mind.

  • Shortly after the establishment of Agriton, the founder came across Prof. Higa and his discovery EM (Effective Microorganisms). Appreciating the potential of EM, Agriton started trailing and recommending it to customers.

As they say, the rest is history because almost 30 years later EM is still being used and is now the backbone of a number of other products.

The true power of EM is in its diversity. To find out more I would encourage you to read the EM page which you can access here.

  • This sentiment is the basis of everything we do. Mother Nature didn’t do anything by mistake. There is a reason for everything, even if we haven’t worked out what that reason is, Mother Nature knew what she was doing.

If there is a problem or issue on farm we look to nature for the solution. By working against nature, we create issues, so it makes sense we look to nature for the answers.

Once we have understood the problem and identified a potential solution we test the science. If the solution stands up to scientific analysis and on farm trials we will launch it to the market.

We endeavour to always use natural solutions rather than synthetic chemicals. So far so good!
