🌱 Groundswell 2025: Regeneration from Soil to Soul
Groundswell Agriculture 2025 was nothing short of transformative. Held in the heart of the English countryside, this year’s event brought together a vibrant and growing community—farmers, growers, gardeners, landworkers, businesses, charities, and educators—all united by one thing: a deep commitment to regeneration.
In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, Groundswell offered clarity, energy, and purpose. It reminded us that soil health isn’t just a farming issue—it’s a life issue.
A Shared Vision Across Scales
Whether you’re managing 500 acres or nurturing a small home garden, the principles of regenerative agriculture apply. At Agriton, we believe that soil is the common thread. Living, healthy soil connects food production, nature recovery, climate resilience, and human wellbeing.
This year, we were especially moved by how well the event bridged commercial farming with horticulture, landscape design, and home growing. The shift away from extractive, input-heavy systems is clearly spreading beyond agriculture and into everyday life.
Standout Themes and Takeaways
1. Regeneration is for everyone. From field-scale rotations to balcony compost bins, regeneration starts with mindset. It’s about working with nature, not against it.
2. Soil is the starting point. From The Land Gardeners’ Soil Medic Tent to talks on compost, microbes, and mycorrhizae, it was clear: everything begins below ground.
3. Community matters. Whether dancing to Andy Cato’s DJ set, sharing a wood-fired pizza, or chatting in the hedgerows, Groundswell was as much about connection as it was about content.
4. Real food, real stories. It’s not just about labels—organic, regen, biodynamic—it’s about food grown with integrity, care, and living soil.
Highlights From Our Perspective
Huge thanks to Michael from Compost Club, who gave a fantastic talk at our stand. His work in localised, circular composting systems shows how community-led action can have real ecological impact.
The Land Gardeners Soil Medic Tent was a stunning space for reconnection—to soil, to plants, and to beauty. It reflected so much of what we value: gentle learning, aesthetic care, and deep ecology.
Meeting Marian Boswall and getting a signed copy of The Kindest Garden was a joy. Her work sits perfectly at the intersection of landscape design and nature recovery.
Lovely to chat with Harry Hoblyn of Rymer Trees & Hedging, whose commitment to peat-free, cell-grown native trees offers real solutions for gardens and rewilding alike.
A Word on Horticulture & Home Growing
As someone with a passion for gardens, design, and soil care at the domestic scale, I found Groundswell deeply affirming. The biological processes we champion at Agriton—microbial health, composting, nutrient cycling—apply just as powerfully to a veg patch as they do to pasture. It’s all connected.
Regeneration isn’t just a farming method—it’s a way of thinking. One that says beauty and biodiversity are not luxuries—they’re essentials.
Looking Ahead
Events like Groundswell show us that change is happening. Across sectors and scales, more and more people are turning toward living soils, circular systems, and meaningful connection—with land, food, and each other.
We leave the show full of ideas, full of gratitude, and more determined than ever to support regenerative practices—on farms, in gardens, and everywhere in between.
Thank you to Alex Cherry and the Groundswell team for bringing this incredible movement to life once again. See you next year!
